The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) reports passenger numbers not seen in a decade for these first 11 months of 2022 (January 1st to November 30th). Jackson Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) continues to be the #1 airport in the state of Mississippi, carrying nearly six (6) of every ten (10) passengers boarding at the seven (7) commercial airports.

As a result of substantial air service increases secured by JMAA at JAN this year, passenger volumes are at or above the pre-pandemic levels of 2019 and likely above those of 2021 when Mississipians returned to the skies in great numbers. The outlook for Calendar Year 2023 is for an increase of approximately 5% in passengers.

“The JMAA Board is proud to support the leadership and staff of JMAA in their growth plans and modernization program to improve the customer experience of Jacksonians and the central Mississippi flying public,” stated Board Chairman Warren T. Herring.

Correlated to passenger volumes at JAN is the high number of parkers utilizing the covered terminal deck, the close-in surface lot, and the long-term economy lot. JMAA Management monitors the available spots frequently and is reviewing options for futher parking availability as the amount of fliers from JAN increases.

Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Means, Jr. stated “JMAA will continue to work closely with our airline partners to offer increased seats and enhanced flight options as passengers continue to return to the skies. With flights to all the major global hubs, we in Jackson are just one (1) stop away from six (6) continents.”

This fall, JMAA announced the opening of several new restaurant options on both the East and West concourses. Delicious, national, and locally-flavored cuisines are available to our travelers, along with a variety of beverages for all ages. Hours will fluctuate around the end of year holidays.

Our excellent global airline partners American, Delta, United, and Southwest continue to provide outstanding levels of Customer Service to get you on your way to friends and family this holiday season. Winter weather, deicing, etc. can always add significant challenges to the air travel experience, so please check www.jmaa.com or your specific air carrier for updates.

Happy continued holidays from the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority: Your Connection to the World!
