As Chief Executive Officer of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA), it is a great pleasure to see the Presidential Medal of Freedom bestowed upon a true hero, leader, and native son of Mississippi.

Our commercial airport is fittingly named Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International, and we are proud to represent a man whose esteemed legacy continues to this day. Medgar Evers inspired generations of Americans and others with his fighting spirit, laying the foundation for a more equitable world.

As an Army veteran, he fought for his country in World War II, then returned to his native state to work in the Civil Rights movement, demonstrating his selflessness in serving others. Let us continue striving to uphold the values for which Medgar gave his life over sixty (60) years ago—justice and dignity for all Mississippians and citizens of our great nation.
