Traveling through JAN? Your safety is our priority. If you 'See Something, Say Something.'   Know Before You Go. Check Your Flight Status Here or with Your Respective Airline.

Airlines serving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) anticipate a very significant increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming year-end holiday period. The number of travelers is expected to rise starting today, December 16th into the following week of Christmas, with the highest peak travel day occurring Thursday, December 23rd. The busy travel period will run until through Monday, January 3rd, 2022.

Additional passenger traffic will be added this Friday and Saturday as proud Jackson State University football fans travel to Atlanta for the Celebration Bowl. During the entire end-of-year holiday period, the peak hours for departing passengers from JAN are between 6-8 a.m., 10 a.m. until noon, and then 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. daily. As a result of substantial air service options and increases at JAN this year, volumes will be at or above the pre-pandemic levels of 2019.

Remember to arrive two (2) hours prior to your flight departure. For questions on TSA checkpoint rules and regulations, along with helpful holiday hints, please visit www.TSA.gov. General information is found on our website: www.iflyjackson.com, including links to the airline and rental car reservation sites as well as JAN parking availability.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority happily reminds you of the re-opening of the Long-Term Parking lot for the Christmas through New Year’s holiday periods. This is in addition to the close-in Garage and Surface lot. JMAA provides updated information on parking on our website as well.

Together we can fight COVID-19! Remaining in compliance with CDC, federal, state and local health and safety mandates, JMAA has implemented measures to keep all passengers, customers, tenants, and employees safe during the COVID-19 era. Those measures include the installation of hand sanitizers throughout JAN and Hawkins Field Airport (HKS); health and safety signage and announcements throughout airports and via social media, reminding passengers of the following:

  • wear face coverings, as mandated by the CDC and TSA
  • wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and water
  • remain home and/or postpone travel when sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms adhere to floor decals to illustrate practicing six (6) feet of social distancing
  • complimentary face masks may be available for passengers who do not have face coverings for travel (subject to demand)
  • plexiglass shields at every airline ticket counter, car rental counter, and shoeshine stand.

Our airline partners American, Delta, United, and Southwest continue to provide outstanding levels of safety at check-in counters, gate areas, and inside aircraft cabins. For details on air carrier health and safety measures, please contact the specific air carrier.

Happy Holidays from the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority: Your Connection to the World! And thank you for flying JAN.
