Traveling through JAN? Your safety is our priority. If you 'See Something, Say Something.'   Know Before You Go. Check Your Flight Status Here or with Your Respective Airline.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) advises that Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) is experiencing record crowds today, during the peak of the Labor Day weekend 2021.

To accommodate this high demand, the Long-term/Remote lot at JAN has been reopened for the peak holiday period. The main Surface lot has generally been completely full; the main Terminal Parking Garage is currently nearing capacity. The Long-term/Remote lot is located on the right, before reaching the main terminal. Please follow signage to locate this available parking option.

With significant increases in airline service achieved by JMAA for this end of summer holiday time, as well as numerous Jackson State University fans traveling to South Florida, the passenger counts have nearly doubled from just last week.

JAN is also seeing several customers who have been unable to depart from New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport due to water, power, and other issues after Hurricane Ida. JMAA is happy to welcome folks from the Mississippi coast and Louisiana to experience significantly increased air offerings to the largest global hubs, with worldwide connections to six (6) continents.

Southwest Airlines (WN) returned to JAN this summer, serving Atlanta (ATL), Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Houston-Hobby (HOU), and Orlando (MCO), totaling seven (7) flights per day on B737 aircraft. Delta Air Lines (DL) has upgraded their aircraft type to all-mainline B717 jets destined for the Atlanta hub, flying between six (6) and eight (8) flights a day.

American (AA) has seasonal Miami (MIA) nonstops, with several this holiday weekend carrying excited Jackson State University Tiger fans to the Orange Blossom Classic to play the FAMU Rattlers. AA earlier this year restarted their Washington-National (DCA) flight, along with increasing Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) and Charlotte (CLT) service, all for a total of 10 to 12 flights per day. United (UA) will add a fifth (5th) daily flight to their Houston Intercontinental (IAH) hub this fall. Frontier Airlines (F9) continues its seasonal Orlando (MCO) service this holiday weekend, as well.

Together we continue vigilance of COVID-19! Remaining in compliance with CDC, and federal health and safety mandates, JMAA has implemented measures to keep all passengers, customers, tenants, and employees safe during the COVID-19 era. Those measures include the installation of hand sanitizers throughout JAN and Hawkins Field Airport (HKS); health and safety signage and announcements throughout airports and via social media, reminding passengers of the following:

  • wear face coverings (required by TSA and the airlines)
  • wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and water
  • remain home and/or postpone travel when sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms adhere to floor decals to illustrate practicing six (6) feet of social distancing
  • plexiglass shields at every airline ticket counter, car rental counter, and shoeshine stand.

Our airline partners American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, and United continue to provide outstanding levels of safety at check-in counters, gate areas, and inside aircraft cabins. For specifics on air carrier health and safety measures, as well as flight details, please contact your individual airline.

Have a great rest of the summer and a safe and happy fall from the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority: Your Connection to the World!
