The Independence week travel period has begun. Airlines serving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) report significant increases in reservations for this holiday period and the rest of the summer. The number of travelers is expected to rise beginning today, with peak travel leaving JAN occurring today (Thursday), July 1st through July 3rd (Saturday).

JAN is happy to have increased air service significantly to the largest global hubs, with hundreds of worldwide connections to six (6) continents. Southwest Airlines returned to JAN on June 6th to Atlanta (ATL), Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Houston-Hobby (HOU), and Orlando (MCO). Delta brought back their mainline B717 jets to Atlanta in early June while increasing their daily frequency substantially.

American began its seasonal service, Saturday Miami (MIA) nonstops, restarted their Washington-National (DCA) flight and increased their Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) and Charlotte (CLT) service. United added a fourth (4th) daily flight to their Houston Intercontinental (IAH) hub this summer. Frontier Airlines restarted its twice-weekly service to Orlando on May 28th.
