Airlines serving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) anticipate significant passenger traffic during the upcoming year-end holiday period. The number of travelers is expected to rise this week, with the highest peak travel days expected to be this Thursday and Friday, December 21st and 22nd. The busy travel period will run through Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.

During most of the end-of-year holiday period, the peak hours for departing passengers from JAN are between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., then from noon until 6 p.m. daily. As a result of substantial air service increases at JAN these past few years, flight choices and passenger volumes are at levels not seen in a decade, with passenger numbers above the pre-pandemic era that has continued through 2023.

To ensure a smooth travel experience during this busy period, the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority strongly encourages all passengers to arrive at least two (2) hours before their flight departures. This allows ample time for parking security procedures and permits travelers to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a beverage, or pick up any last-minute travel essentials on both the East and West concourses.

Our world-class airlines, American, Delta, Southwest, and United, still have some seats available for late-booking travelers, so please contact them or your favorite travel planning professionals for trip options. To get the latest travel information and updates, passengers can follow Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport on social media channels, @JacksonAirports, or visit www.iFlyJackson.com. For inquiries regarding permitted holiday items and TSA checkpoint rules, please visit www.TSA.gov.

  • Garage parking: $16 per day (directly in front of the terminal)
  • Surface lot: $14 per day (short 2-3 min. walk to the terminal)
  • Long-term lot: $10 per day (with free shuttle service)
  • Free 10-minute parking in any lot; hourly fees begin at 11 minutes

For added convenience, JAN continues to provide free cell phone lot parking as visitors await arriving passengers.
