The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA received a potential threat to Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN). Several other Mississippi airports reportedly received this type of threat.

 

JMAA’s Airport Police Department and Operations Division are working closely with its mutual aid security partners, including the U.S. Transportation Administration (TSA), U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Jackson and Pearl Police Departments, and the Rankin Sheriff’s Office. A thorough sweep of all airport facilities is being performed, and security will remain vigilant to ensure the safety of our facilities. 

 

JMAA takes all potential threats seriously. The safety and security of our passengers, employees, tenants, and visitors are our top priorities. We will provide updates as more information becomes available, and we appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the public at this time. Providing a safe traveling environment is a primary focus at JMAA.

ABOUT JMAA

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) operates two airports: Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) and Hawkins Field Airport (HKS). JAN is the busiest airport in Mississippi, situated in the Central part of the state and serving the Capital region of Jackson with over 3,000 acres of property. JAN serves several of the world’s busiest global hubs and is home to the Mississippi Air National Guard 172nd Airlift Wing. HKS is a general aviation airport that houses two emergency response medical air transporters and the Civil Air Patrol. It is also home to the Mississippi Army National Guard 185th Aviation Brigade. The Authority provides service to over 1.22 million passengers per year.
