The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) Board of Commissioners hosted the official welcome reception held in honor of Rosa M. Beckett, the first female Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in its history. The event took place on Thursday, June 15th, at The Faulkner in downtown Jackson. This prestigious reception brought together key community leaders, top business executives, airport partners and stakeholders, government officials, and other special guests from across the tri-county area.

The City of Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba had the honor of officially introducing CEO Rosa Beckett during the reception. Mayor Lumumba expressed his excitement at Ms. Beckett’s selection, his support for the continued advancement of Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) as well as Hawkins Field (HKS), and shared his thoughts on the significance of this milestone appointment. He was impressed at her deep knowledge of JMAA’s current status in the aviation world, and with her thoughts on the unique pressures airports face across our nation. The Mayor stated that Ms. Beckett understands that the City desires a principal airport that is modern and welcoming to visitors, and that it is a shining representation of the city and state that we love.

During the ceremony, Ms. Beckett shared her goals and plans for both JAN and Hawkins Field, emphasizing the importance of providing exceptional service to travelers, maintaining a strong focus on safety and security, and enhancing the airports’ significant economic impact on the region. She also expressed her dedication to immersing herself in the community and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders and partners.

 The welcome reception also included the traditional unveiling of the official CEO portrait. This symbolic moment marked the beginning of a new era under Rosa Beckett’s leadership, representing her commitment and dedication to the future success of JMAA and our airports.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority extends its sincere gratitude to all attendees for joining in this momentous celebration. The appointment of Rosa M. Beckett as CEO marks a significant milestone in the history of JMAA, setting a positive tone for continued progress and innovation for the citizens of metro Jackson.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) operates two airports: Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) and Hawkins Field Airport (HKS). JAN is the busiest airport in Mississippi, situated in the Central part of the state and serving the Capital region of Jackson with over 3,000 acres of property. JAN has service to several of the world’s busiest global hubs and is home to the Mississippi Air National Guard 172nd Airlift Wing. HKS is a general aviation airport and is home to the Mississippi Army National Guard 185th Aviation Brigade.
