The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) proudly announces the appointment of Jean C. Frazier as its newest Commissioner, completing the five-member JMAA Board of Commissioners. A lifelong Jackson resident and consummate business leader, Commissioner Frazier brings over 30 years of experience in communications, business development, and government relations to her new role.

 

With a distinguished career dedicated to advancing education and addressing community needs, particularly among underserved populations, Frazier’s leadership spans non-governmental organizations, nonprofits, and higher education institutions. Her appointment strengthens the Board’s mission to serve as the governing body for the Authority, establishing policies that support the effective execution of strategy, operations, compliance, and financial management at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) and Hawkins Field (HKS), benefitting Jackson and the many communities we serve in central Mississippi.

 

Warren Herring, Chairman of the JMAA Board of Commissioners, stated, “Commissioner Frazier’s remarkable track record and deep ties to the community will significantly enhance our efforts to elevate JMAA’s service and impact. We are excited about the contributions she will bring to the Board.”

Commissioner Frazier’s career highlights include:

 

  • Jackson State University: A 17-year tenure in Public Relations, Donor Relations, and State and Local Governmental Affairs. She played a critical role in crisis management, legislative lobbying, donor engagement, and the successful branding and marketing of the University’s 125th Anniversary Campaign.

 

  • JMAA Communications Leadership: As a member of JMAA’s communications team, she implemented a crisis management plan, led the 2016 branding campaign, and spearheaded strategic initiatives during critical challenges.

 

  • Award-Winning Leadership: Recognized with the Grand Award for Print Media by the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi and the Gold Award for Excellence in Broadcasting by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters.

 

Her appointment to the fifth seat of the JMAA Board underscores the Authority’s dedication to maintaining a robust leadership team committed to providing safe, efficient, and innovative airport operations for the citizens of Mississippi.

ABOUT JMAA

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) operates two airports: Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) and Hawkins Field Airport (HKS). JAN is the busiest airport in Mississippi, situated in the central part of the state, and serves the capital region of Jackson, which has over 3,000 acres of property. JAN serves several of the world’s busiest global hubs and is home to the Mississippi Air National Guard 172nd Airlift Wing. HKS is a general aviation airport that houses two emergency response medical air transporters and the Civil Air Patrol.  It is also home to the Mississippi Army National Guard 185th Aviation Brigade. The Authority provides service to nearly 1.29 million passengers per year.
