At the close of the 2023 Thanksgiving holiday season, passenger traffic at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) has reached record levels.
Nearly 27,000 travelers passed through JAN’s East and West checkpoints to board flights with American, Delta, Southwest, and United Airlines, a 22.2% increase over pre-Covid traffic and an increase of 3.3% above 2022. Returning passengers to Jackson helped bring the total traffic numbers to nearly 54,000 for the peak 12 days., spanning Thursday, November 16th through Monday, November 27th.
Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport continues to see strong passenger demand as travelers take business trips and visit family and friends across the U.S. and around the world. As the busiest airport in Mississippi, JAN has seen eight (8) straight months of over 100,000 passengers and is on track for to exceed 1.3 million total passengers in 2023.

The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority is well-prepared for a busy year-end holiday season and offers a range of convenient parking options to meet travelers’ needs, including:
- Garage parking: at $16 per day (right across from the terminal)
- Surface lot: at $14 per day (a short walk to the terminal)
- East overflow lot: at $14 per day (may operate at peak Christmas & New Year periods)
- Long-term lot: at $10 per day (with free shuttle service)
- Free 10-minute parking in any lot; hourly fees begin at 11 minutes
For added convenience, JAN continues to provide free cell phone lot parking as visitors await arriving passengers. This is located by turning left on Cross Street before International Drive splits at the surface lot.
