Airlines serving the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) anticipate a significant increase in passenger traffic during the Spring Break travel period, beginning this week. The number of travelers is expected to rise significantly starting today, Friday, March 10th until Monday, March 20th, 2023.
During this busy travel period, the peak hours for passengers departing JAN are 6-8 a.m., 10 a.m. until 12 noon, and 2-7 p.m. daily. As a result of substantial air service options added by the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) since 2021, volumes continue to be above pre-pandemic levels. JAN handled 1.22 million passengers in 2022, a 29% increase from the volume of 2021 and 16% above the pre-Covid year of 2019. These are numbers not seen since 2012.
The world-class airlines flying in and out of JAN this Spring Break period are American (AA), Delta (DL), Southwest (WN), and United (UA), connecting you to six (6) continents around the world. Every beach destination in the USA, Mexico, and the Caribbean is served by our great airline partners. And if city vacations are on your bucket list, AA, DL, WN, and UA can jet you there, as well.
Remember to arrive at least two (2) hours prior to your flight departure, with new restaurant and bar options available to you in both the East and West concourses. For questions on TSA checkpoint rules and regulations, along with helpful holiday hints, please visit www.TSA.gov. General information is found on our website: www.iflyjackson.com, including links to the airline and rental car reservation sites.
The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority advises that parking is currently open, but will likely fill as the Spring Break period progresses. Should spaces fill up in the close-in Garage ($16/day) and Surface lot ($13/day), the Long-Term lot is a convenient and economical option at just $10 per day, with shuttles operating from 4 a.m. daily until the last flight arrives at JAN. Please call 601.360.8690 for parking availability.
And as a reminder, it’s never too early to book your summer trips! LET’S KEEP FLYING, JACKSON. Happy Spring Break from the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority: Your Connection to the World!
