Lee A. Bernard. Jr.
Having grown up in the Georgetown Section of Jackson, Lee saw a need to assist the Georgetown Community Association (GCA) headed by Mr. Perry Robinson. For the last 12 years, he has served as Vice-President of GCA. At his current residence, Lee serves as President of Brookwood Home Owners Association.
In 2008, Lee spearheaded the “1st Lanier All Class Reunion”. Lee has served as the Treasurer and President of the Lanier National Alumni Association, and helped to secure the approval of the ONLY high school car license plate in the City of Jackson. Sales of license plates have made it possible to increase scholarships granted to seniors at Lanier.
Working thru the Beta Alpha Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Lee has worked on many community projects; which include mentoring students at Johnson Elementary and Lanier High School, and annually providing meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas to clients of Stewpot.
Professionally, Lee spent 23 years working as a Controller and Manager for RJR Nabisco in the cities of New Orleans, LA; St. Louis, MO; Pennsauken, NJ; Parsippany NJ and East Hanover, NJ…and worked 7 years as an Operations Consultant in the Medical Leasing Division with Bank of America.
Currently, at Lanier High School Lee serves as a Substitute Teacher for 3 days a week.
Past and present business endeavors include the following: owned Bernard’s Christian Daycare Center (operated by Mrs. Antonia Bernard) and a Used Car Lot …both in the Georgetown Community; operated as a Day Trader on the New York and NASDAQ Stock Exchanges; currently he is a distributor of Personal Health Care Products (nutrition/skincare/healthy-coffee) and invests in Real Estate.
Lee has been married to his college sweetheart Katie for over 48 years. Lee and Katie have one son, Lee A. Bernard, III, two Granddaughters (Jayda and Leah) and one Grandson (Noah).
Lee is a member of New Hope Baptist Church under the late Rev. G. C. Hunt and the late Rev. Lenell Davis. Lee is a former member of Union Baptist Church of Morristown, NJ where he served with the Trustee Ministry for over 17 years as Financial Secretary and Chairman of the Trustee Ministry. Lee is a Life Member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Life Member of Lanier High School National Alumni Association, Life Member of Jackson State University National Alumni Association, and also a Golden Heritage Life Member of the NAACP.
Lee is President of A. Phillip Randolph Institute, Central Mississippi Chapter and Works with the Community Advisor Board of the Jackson Medical Mall.
Lee served as the 27th District Representative of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, which covered the States of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.
As Lee relocated out of New Jersey in 2005, Newark NJ Mayor Sharpe James Proclaimed October 6, 2005 as Lee A. Bernard, Jr. Day. Mayor John Delaney of Morristown NJ Proclaimed October 9, 2005 as Lee A. Bernard, Jr. Day.
