The Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport will be host to the arrival and transfer of the final remains of United States Air Force Senior Sergeant William J. Boyd on Thursday, July 14, 2016.  The solemn occasion will be marked by family members along with members of the Keesler Air Force Base (Biloxi, MS) and the Mississippi Military Honor Guard beginning promptly at 3:17 p.m.

 

Upon his entry into the United States Force in 2013, Sergeant Boyd was classified as an AC-130W instrument and flight systems journeyman for the 16th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 27th Special Operations Aviation Maintenance Squadron at nearby Cannon Air Force Base.  Boyd graduated in 2008 from Northwest Rankin High School in Brandon, Mississippi. Senior Airman Boyd received the Air Force Achievement Medal for his military deployment in 2015 during Operation Inherent Resolve.

The United States Flag will be a backdrop for the occasion as a salute to the family.  Members of the Mississippi Patriot Guard Riders along with external law enforcement officers have been invited by the family to assist as escorts in the final transfer of Sergeant William J. Boyd to the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon (MS).

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at ll:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be Friday, July 15 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 am until the ll:00 a.m. Service.  Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Brandon, MS.
