The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority issues the following statement regarding today’s ground incident of a private aircraft at the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport.
Today, at or around 12:09 p.m., JMAA Operations were contacted regarding a ground incident at Runway 34 Right of the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport. The Alert 3 was issued and JMAA Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting responded on the scene of a single-engine private aircraft that suffered damage as the result of the collapse of its nose gear upon landing. The plane apparently skidded approximately 40 feet upon landing. Fortunately, there were no injuries associated with the incident. Damage to the single-engine Bonanza aircraft is being assessed. Normal operations for Runway 34 Right have resumed. The incident remains under investigation.
