(Jackson, MISS) – The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) was included among this year’s honorees at the 2016 Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) Awards Gala held in Orlando, Florida this week. JMAA was awarded the Inclusion Champion Award that carries with it a global recognition for JMAA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion among businesses and corporations conducting business in the air transport and business industries.
Kevin M. Burke, President and CEO of ACI-NA is proud of the platform the Inclusion Champion Award represents and touts the Champion Award as a staple for valued business pursuits with ACI-NA’s 380-aviation and airport industry membership.
“The Inclusion Champion Award celebrates exceptional achievement in promoting and sustaining diversity throughout the airport industry’s workforce,” said Burke. “Diversity is good business and we are proud to recognize our airport and associate members who are committed to promoting inclusion.”
The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) established its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program in accordance with regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The ACI-NA Inclusion Champion Award is an acknowledgment of these global efforts and gives rise to diverse providers in pursuit of conducting business with JMAA. Carl D. Newman, A.A.E. and Chief Executive Officer at JMAA embraces the national honor as a testament to JMAA’s dedication in promoting such opportunities.
“A broad scope of services for our airport is evident among providers from all segments of our community. Creating a level playing field at JMAA to ensure that all segments of our community are engaged and able to compete fairly for contracts is our goal,” said Newman.
The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority formed its policies and procedures to actively encourage, support and mentor small and disadvantage business.
