Jackson Municipal Airport Authority Joins the East Metro Corridor Commission in Ground Breaking Ceremony for Phase II of the East Metro Corridor Phase II
(Jackson, MISS) — The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) announces its collaboration with the East Metro Corridor Commission in hosting the Ground Breaking Ceremony for Phase II of the East Metro Corridor. Scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, the ceremony will be held at the East Metro Parkway at El Dorado Road.
A connector of Brandon, Pearl and Flowood, the Phase II project will include the construction of the access road from the completed end of the East Metro Parkway to Old Brandon Road in Pearl, near the Homeland Security Office. The estimated cost of the project is $6 million. An earmark in the federal United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), Mississippi’s Senators Thad Cochran (Senate District 113) and Roger Wicker (Senate District 555) lead the charge with Congressman Gregg Harper (MS Congressional District 3) in monitoring and securing funding for the project. The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority will contribute $1 million towards the Phase II development. The Phase II project is also funded by the Federal Highway Administration through the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
