Carl D. Newman, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Newman joined the Airport Authority in January 2015, and is responsible for the day to day management of both Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) and Hawkins Field (HKS). Mr. Newman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Arizona and a Masters of Aeronautical Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Prior to his position at JAN, Mr. Newman was the general manager for the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). His duties and responsibilities include the daily operations of Houston’s largest airport, and the development and implementation of policies and procedures. In addition, Mr. Newman also managed the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the budget and expenditures for IAH, among other duties.
Prior to his position at IAH, Mr. Newman served as assistant aviation director at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Mr. Newman brings more than 30 years of aviation experience to Jackson and has held various leadership positions including Deputy Aviation Director, Facilities Superintendent, and Airside Operations Manager.
Mr. Newman is a board member for American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and currently serves as the Second Vice Chair of the organization. He is the immediate Past Chair of the Operations, Planning and Safety Subcommittee for AAAE and served as the Second Vice President of the Southwest Chapter of AAAE. He also served on the board for the Central Arizona Chapter of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators.
Mr. Newman currently resides in Jackson with his wife Jeanette, and is the father of three daughters and one son.

Bonnie A. Wilson, Chief Operating Officer
Employed since 2001, Ms. Wilson directs the day to day operational, administrative and support activities of the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport and Hawkins Field. She is a graduate of the University of Houston and a member of the Airports Council International – North America, and the American Association of Airport Executives.

Woodrow (Woody) Wilson, Jr., B.S., M.S., Senior Director of Capital Programming
Employed since 1999, Mr. Wilson is responsible for the planning, direction, implementation, oversight and facilitation of the Airport Authority’s long and short term capital projects. He is a graduate of Troy State University with a Master’s of Science Degree in Public Administration, and served in the United States Air Force as a pilot, base commander, and fulfilled other leadership roles for 28 years, retiring at the rank of Colonel. He is also a member of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Jack Thomas, Director of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) & Community Development
Employed since 2008, Mr. Thomas is responsible for managing and overseeing the disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) and community development program. He is a graduate of Kansas State University and possesses over twenty-eight years of DBE and community development experience.

Gene Moore, Director Marketing & Communications
Mr. Moore is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and administration of Media Relations, Public Information, and Customer Service related issues to include marketing, public relations programs and advertising programs. He is a graduate of Jackson State University. He has over 30 years of communications experience having worked in several television station markets across the country. He has operated his own television production company producing videos and marketing for major companies. He is also a member of the American Association of Airport Executives and Airports Council International.

Employed since 2002, Ms. Knight is responsible for administering Airport Authority’s policies, practices and procedures related to staff recruitment and retention, as well as employee training and development. She is a graduate of Jackson State University and has over 20 years of directly related experience in Human Resources. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Mississippi Society of Certified Public Managers (MSCPM) and Airport Council International – North America (ACI-NA).

Employed since 2002, Chief Miller is responsible for providing law enforcement and public safety support to day to day operations for Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport and Hawkins Field. Chief Miller possesses 12 years of military service and 18 years of law enforcement experience. Chief Miller is a State Certified Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor and Firearms Instructor. Chief Miller is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police, and Airport Law Enforcement Agencies Network.
