(Jackson, MISS) –At its regular scheduled meeting of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority Board of Commissioners held March 28, 2016, the Board approved work to begin on the initial Hawkins Field improvement projects identified in the JMAA Strategic Plan 2021. Elements of work being addressed at this time include: enhancements to the airport signage, lighting and landscaping at Industrial Drive and Ford Avenue; installation of fencing along the active airfield to enhance both safety and security; improvements to both the interior and exterior of the terminal building to include construction of a meeting room space; and additional signage at the south entrance of the field at Bullard Street and Sam Jones Boulevard.
Investments in the facilities and infrastructure at Hawkins Field are identified as strategic goals to increase operations, enhance service to the services offered to airport tenants, business partners and users.

Newman, A.A.E. and Chief Executive Officer for JMAA. “The added value of the upgrades is in alignment with the goals identified in our Strategic Plan 2021 and are a blueprint to developing a 21st century airport for attracting aviation customers and partners in support of private aircraft operations along with the services to support them.”
With the exception of the ornamental fencing the majority of the work will commence immediately with a total price tag of $220,000 for the projects. The projected completion is June 30, 2016 for all of the projects.
